FAQ - Employees
Q. Can I cancel a job I previously reported?

An employee cannot cancel a job if the job has already started. (If the job started at 7:50, the job cannot be cancelled at 7:51.) If an employee does cancel a job, IT IS THE EMPLOYEE'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE ASSIGNED SUBSTITUTE THAT THE JOB HAS BEEN CANCELLED. When the job is cancelled, Bessie will play the assigned substitute's name and phone number. If the employee does not contact the substitute, and the substitute reports for work, the pay for that substitute will be deducted from the employee's pay!

Q. I want to use a substitute who isn't in the Bessie system. Is that okay?

All substitutes must be on the district list. If you would like to use a substitute who is not on the list, please call the help desk to see if arrangements can be made.

Q. There is a substitute I don't want back in my classroom. Is that possible?

Yes. Each school and each employee can have a "Do-Not-Use" list. If you need someone added to your Do-Not-Use list, please contact the help desk.

Q. I have forgotten my PIN. Can you look that up for me?

You can review your PIN by calling Bessie. When Bessie asks you to enter your PIN, simply press the "Star" key. Bessie will then ask you to enter your Social Security Number, and then you can review your PIN.

FAQ - Substitutes
Q. Can I cancel my assignment to a job I previously accepted?

As long as the job has not started. However, if you cancel your assignment to a job, you will not be able to accept any other jobs for the day you cancelled for.

Q. How can I increase the number of calls I receive?

Every school in the district, as well as every employee, can create a "Priority List". When an absence is reported, the system starts calling substitutes from these Priority Lists first. If you would like an increased number of calls, talk to teachers or principals you enjoy substituting for, and ask them to put you on their Priority List.
