Sunrise High School helps students acquire an Adult Education Secondary Diploma as outlined by criteria from the Utah State Board of Education. Credits are earned by completing required and elective course requirements through the competency based curriculum. Student performance must meet an 80% or better standard for credit to be issued. Transferred credits from other accredited schools will be evaluated against Sunrise High School's criteria and competencies and posted as either elective or required credit.

Adult Education Registration

Testing is required for all Adult Education/ GED students. There is a $50.00 registration fee. Please call Nicky at (435) 734 - 4834 to schedule an appointment.

Students transferring from a high school will need to bring a signed HSE Candidate and Adult Education Eligibility form from their counselor and a parent/guardian will need to accompany them for the intake meeting.

All new students will need to fill out a transcript request and provide a Social Security Number.

All students will need to bring proof of Utah Residency document. You can find a list of approved Proof of Residency documents HERE.

Attendance Policy

Time Requirement

Students are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week on assigned courses. In the event that a student is not working 10 hours weekly, courses will be disabled until the student meets with their instructor. Once a student meets with their instructor or AE staff member, courses will be reactivated at no charge if this is completed before 10 days of inactivity. (If a student goes 10 days without completing this requirement, see next paragraph.)

10 Day Drop

If a student goes 10 school days without working in their assigned courses, the assigned courses will be dropped on the 10th day. There will be a $5 per course reactivation fee if a course is dropped due to 10 days of inactivity.

90 Day Drop

If a student goes 90 days without contact, they will be dropped from the program and will be required to re-register and pay a $15 re-registration fee.

Enrollment Requirements

In order for a student to be considered "enrolled" in Adult Education, all of the following requirements must be met:

  • Complete all Registration Forms

  • Pay Registration Fee $50 (cannot be waived)

  • Provide Proof of Utah Residency

  • Complete CASAS Test

  • ​Complete Intake with Adult Education Registrar

  • Complete a minimum of 12 contact hours

Adult Education is not considered full time student status

Course Requirement

Students can be assigned up to two (2) courses at one time. A course must be completed before a new course can be assigned. Students have 30 days to complete an assigned course. Otherwise the course will be disabled and the student will be required to restart from the beginning of the course.

Assessment Policy

All assessments must be proctored on campus by a Box Elder Adult Education Instructor. CASAS tests must be administered on campus by a certified Box Elder School District proctor. All tests, exams, and assessments in Edgenuity must be completed on campus and proctored by a Box Elder School District trained employee. Students are expected to follow the testing protocol given by their instructor. In the event that the validity of a test is in question, the student may be required to re-take the test. Electronic devices are not permitted during any testing.

Distance Learning

Once a student has reached "Enrollee" status and has completed a minimum of 12 in class hours, they may work on their curriculum at home. Students will be assigned a log-in and assignment which could be completed at home. All work completed at home will be tracked, and time spent will be counted for attendance. All testing/assessments must be done in class with a teacher.

Distance Learning Students must meet with an instructor once weekly.

If a student goes 10 days without working on their assignment, they will be dropped from the course and will have to start over. A $5 fee will be accessed for each course disabled due to the 10 day rule.

GED

GED Preparation will be held in conjunction with the Adult Education Classes. (Times are listed above)

Students may choose between earning their Adult Education Diploma or their GED.
